Who we are
My name is Michael; I am the director of Lyrebird Timbers. I grew up in McMahons Creek, where I now have built a bandsaw mill and Solar wood drying kiln. Using the power of the sun to dry the timber is a sustainable, carbon-neutral method to dry timber.
I started working with timber when I was only 14, I have worked at 3 furniture companies and later, in my late 20s and early 30s in a more shopfitting role. I built my own bandsaw mill and kiln and started working on fulfilling the dream of working for myself and finally quit my job in mid-2024 to make it reality. Now in my mid 30s I believe I have the experience and skill to take your wooden projects to the next level.
Whether its raw timber you are after, bench tops, a custom built-in piece or a bespoke item of furniture Lyrebird Timbers can help.
